| Misurina is the name of the
little touristic centre, while the actual name of the pass is Col s. Angelo. It's one of the most beautiful, and thus crowded, places in he Dolomites. Coming from the south, after a very long ascent from Auronzo up the Ansiei valley the "tre cime di Lavaredo" stands out in front of you as a background for the tiny beautiful lake of Misurina. On the opposite side, the mighty walls of Sorapiss which have followed you all along the last kilometers of climbing. Not to mention the fantastic Cristallo and the Cadini di Misurina. As I was saying, the south side of col s.Angelo is a long one, with a first, mild, warming-up section and a second section which is hard enough: 5 km at 9% avg. The northern side is short and not difficult except for the last km with some12%; the views are also less rewarding. 1st picture: the last, almost flat, hundreds of meters with the Tre cime di Lavaredo; 2nd picture: during the winter it is sometimes possible to walk on the iced lake.
